Short on time but want to really get to know Wellington?

Take in panoramic views from Mount Victoria, explore Wellington’s south coast, visit Wētā Cave, ride the Cable Car and discover Parliament and the Beehive — with local stories, history and commentary bringing each stop to life along the way.
 

A great introduction to Wellington for cruise passengers, first-time visitors or anyone wanting to experience more of the city in half a day.

Full Day Tour

​Visiting Wellington's most iconic spots including Mount Vic lookout (hop out) , Lyall Bay beach, Weta Cave (hop out), cruise past the Basin Reserve, visit the War Memorial, drive down Cuba St, grab a ride on the Cable Car, Parliament/Beehive & the Lady Norwood Rose Garden. But wait there's more! You'll also get treated to a 1 hour guided tour of Te Papa Tongarewa, our national museum. Packing loads of goodness into your day hosted by one of our talented & sometimes funny hosts! Note that we will also pause for lunch at an iconic location (lunch at guests cost).

 The tour included all the must do locations, and we saw so much
more of Wellington than we could have seen on our own.
Glenys (our guide) is a born and bred local, which added authenticity to her commentary. The small group size of 10 was congenial and we were collected from and returned to our ship, which made it so easy.

Half Day
 

  • You will be collected from your central hotel, at the port or at the iSite

  • Cruise through the central city, your guide will explain some of the highlights as you go (e.g Museum Hotel)

  • Head up to the best vantage point in the city & we’ll hop out at Mount Victoria Lookout

  • Explore Wellington's rugged south coast while hearing the stories and local history that have shaped this part of the city, including the Wahine disaster – Aotearoa's worst ever maritime catastrophe.

  • Jump out & check out the Weta Cave, the Weta retail store & take advantage of some great photo opportunities

  • Head back into the city & jump in the Cable Car for a ride. All aboard!  

  • Another great vantage point awaits at the top of the Cable Car, then we’ll head down to the Botanical Gardens

  • Now visit the very locations from where our country is run, Parliament buildings & the beehive

  • Another great vantage point awaits at the top of the Cable Car, then we’ll head down to the Botanical Gardens

  • Now visit the very locations from where our country is run, Parliament buildings & the beehive

  • Last but not least, visit city landmark Old St Pauls Church

  • Note that there are sometimes more than one pick up location, please be patient

  • Our guides are happy to take photos for you, just ask!

  • You are welcome to bring your own lunch, snacks or drinks
